Nicholls Tree Services

With you, for your trees.

Crownlifting

Crownlifting involves the removal of the lower branches of a tree to a specified height, and it is done either by the removal of whole branches, or by the removal of parts which are located below the appropriate height. It is a good way of letting more light into the garden and giving a tree a shape that works for the location.

Pollarding

Pollarding reduces the overall size of the tree.

Site Clearance

For this particular project, the customer wanted more light into his garden.

Felling

Tree felling may be necessary for a number of reasons – most commonly a tree might be dead, dying or in an inappropriate location. It may also be because it is crowding out other trees and causing them harm, or it has been damaged. We are experienced in felling all trees and know how to fell whilst ensuring that as little disruption as possible is caused to the surrounding area.

Stump Grinding

Once a tree is felled, its stump is usually removed to prevent suckering and to prevent fungal roots spreading. We handle all sizes of domestic and commercial stump grinding, stump removal, and tree root removal.

Crown thinning

You would usually consider crown thinning in order to let more light through the canopy and also to help ensure that it is not weakened by strong winds. Small, crossing and damaged branches may be removed, whilst ensuring that a balanced branch structure is maintained, without changing the overall shape and size of the tree.

Forestry and Woodland Regeneration

We have worked on numerous sites, undertaking woodland management and clearance, including conservation work.

Hedge cutting

Hedges require trimming and cutting to remain dense and compact. We undertake all aspects of hedge cutting, including established, formal and informal hedges. We follow the Royal Horticultural Society’s guidelines for when to undertake formative and maintenance pruning of Deciduous and Evergreen hedges, and take great care to ensure that the bird nesting season is adhered to.
